It's been a year since I first picked up Yogi and he hasn't disappointed. From day 1, I knew he was a loyal and smart. I started working on simple commands and he immediately was grasping it. I sent him to Carli this past summer to learn how to be a waterfowl dog. When I picked Yogi up, Carli told to expect 50 percent retrieval rate. He has exceeded that and then some. He has retrieved 80 percent of my birds in his first season and has made 5 blind retrieves in thick marsh environments. I get compliments on how well behaves and listens to commands. Yogi has exceeded my expectations in all aspects.

Dropped madi when she was just 10 months old. She was trained primarily for tracking. The care she received and knowledge she learned is well above anything that I would have ever expected. Have been tracking with her the last two seasons and the results are unbelievable. The skills she learned for deer tracking and shed hunting has carried over to the little bit of bird hunting I do too. She recovers doves and pheasants as well. I'm the buddy in the group that now has the dog that everyone in the area is jealous of. I highly recommend Northwoods training for any of your dog needs. Thanks for all the work you do and keep up the good work.

We purchased Hali as a starred dog in January of 2020 and picked her up in August that year!! When I went to pick Hali up she was just as Carli had described her. But she was perfect!

We bought her for our business Brute Buck Outfitters, but she has turned into much more than a working dog!! She’s the perfect family dog and loves to work also!!

Her obedience is amazing and she listens very well! After her adjustment time with us which went smoothly it was a couple weeks til deer season so we dove in head first and our first year together we have found 34 deer!! She has been phenomenal and a joy to watch work!!!

I bought Felina from Northwoods Training Kennel in September of 2019, shortly after a buddy had got his lab home from NTK. The obedience work alone is what made my mind up to go with NTK for a started dog, it is second to none!

I purchased Felina to not only be a personal dog but also a dog that could track and recover sheds for us at Spikes-N-Spurs Outfitters and Wicked Wing Shed & Tracking Dogs. Anyone that knows me, including Carli knows I have very high expectations. When I got Felina in November, after the standard adjusting period, she hit the ground running and absolutely shocked all of us when it came to tracking. She found close to a dozen deer as well as one bobcat in her first season and over half of those tracks had already been given up on by clients. I can’t wait to see her in the woods this fall for her second season of tracking!

Shortly after tracking season I sent Felina back for a shed tune up. Now I’ll tell on myself, Carli told me not to throw a single shed to her while I had her during tracking season and well I listened....NOT! (Felina had zero clue what a shed was or that she should bring it back to me).

So a month and a half later I get her back after her tune up with one goal, we’re going to find 15 sheds by the end of shed season with her! Well she’s currently at 15 sheds on the year and I only got to shed hunt half as much as I normally do. She has also achieved several passes on the UKC Elite Shed Dogs and NASHDA circuits. So you could say Felina in a mere 45 days KNOWS what to do with a shed!

I can confidently say I am 100% pleased with Felina from the ground up (anyone that knows me knows that’s a big task) and I currently have another dog being trained at NTK with plans of many more to be from Northwoods Training Kennel!

I sent my dog, Duke, to Carli the first of December 2019 and picked him up at the end of February. He was just 4.5 months at the time I sent him off. I knew as soon as I got Duke that I wanted him to find sheds plus still make a great family dog. My Facebook feed kept bringing up Northwoods Kennel and the more I researched the more I knew that I wanted Carli to work with Duke. When I got Duke back from training it was amazing to see how much he had actually progressed. The obedience training was hands down the most amazing part of it all. Duke is so good with commands and even tho he is still a pup and wants to act the part sometimes, he is such a solid dog. When it came to picking up deer sheds he was “ok” at it when I sent him, but now it’s just awesome to watch him work. It’s almost like Carli made Duke fall in love with antlers. At just 8 months now he has found many horns on his own and made 40+ retrieves on wild antlers. I couldn’t be happier with him and the decision to go with Northwoods Kennel! Carli is a great person and super helpful with any questions I have. I’ll be sending Duke back this summer to keep up on his training and insuring his future success.

She was very helpful and informative on all my questions prior to purchasing Benny from Northwoods Training Kennel. August 4 · Being a die hard shed hunter, having a shed dog has always been a dream of ours. After years of waiting, my family and I finally pulled the trigger. We knew we wanted a British lab due to preference and past experiences and then we finally found Northwood training kennels. The whole process from start to finish of getting Ruger home was a treat due to Carli's service and organization. After getting Ruger home we quickly found out he not only excelled in shed hunting but was great with our kids! We have since sent Ruger back to be finished over the summer and even purchased our 2nd dog, Masha, from Northwood training kennels as well!

Dear Carli:

Immediately after purchasing Shadow in March 2014, I enrolled him into the Started Dog Program at Northwoods Training Kennel with the goal of having him ready for waterfowl and upland hunting by fall.
Since I never spent any time with Shadow prior to training, I was very concerned about his transition to my family. By following your instructions, Shadow understood that he was not the leader, and he made a smooth transition to become a member of the family.
This past fall, Shadow and I went on numerous hunting adventures to include: waterfowl hunting from a boat and blind, grouse and pheasant hunting. While duck hunting, Shadow quickly learned to stay sitting in the blind while setting decoys and patiently waited for ducks. When shooting, Shadow stayed sitting until he was commanded to retrieve. While upload hunting, Shadow was attentive to his distance and direction by consistently looking back at me. On a pheasant hunting trip, I am certain that I would have not seen any birds if it was not for Shadow’s field work. For Shadow’s first season, I am proud to report that he was 100% successful in all his retrievals.
It has been almost four months since Shadow graduated the Started Dog Program, and I could not be more pleased with the training results. Shadow’s training prepared him very well for his first hunting season. Shadow is a great hunting dog that is very well mannered, obedient and balanced. So, I want to thank you and Northwoods Training Kennel for the great training that you have provided Shadow and me. Not only do I have a great hunting dog and companion, but I now have a renewed passion for bird hunting.

After purchasing a silver lab I contacted many accomplished trainers throughout the United States and got basically the same answer from them all. They told me that Oakley would never amount to anything because of his color and they did not even want to take him on for training saying he would be dumb and aggressive. This was very concerning seeing that I have small children. When I contacted Carli with Northwood’s she was very interested and confident in training Oakley so enrolled him in Northwood’s started dog program. When we got Oakley back from the Started Dog Program I was very surprised to find that my 4 month old lab puppy had very little signs of being a puppy at all. Oakley was obedient, calm, and ready for a command at all times. I even had friends ask if Oakley was sick because he did not act like a normal puppy, they were amazed that a 4 month old lab could be so well-trained. I was so impressed that I decided to send him back to Northwood’s to become a finished dog. Now two years later Oakley has been on many duck hunting adventures where he has performed flawlessly hunting from shore, in a boat, on a river and multiple retrieves have never been a problem. Friends who previously did not like duck hunting with a dog changed their thoughts after one successful hunt with Oakley. This past year on the Wisconsin pheasant opener I took two friends with and we were limited out within the first 30 minutes Oakley had full retrieves on every bird. Not only did Carli train Oakley, but she was more than willing to show my wife and I how to get the most out of the training which was very helpful and not a service that every trainer offers. I am very confident to say Oakley will be the best dog I will ever own and that is thanks to Carli.

We have done lots of fun things this summer with him. Lots of camping, and he does so well. Very well behaved, but he is still a puppy so he has his moments. He loves finding sheds, being on the boat, helping with food plots, and setting tree stands :) of course he loves playing fetch, and playing with our girls. He has made the perfect addition to our family. We couldn't be happier

Wow, best way to describe the quality of training Ruby received. I can't begin to thank Carli enough for her hard work. Ruby is a Rockstar on all levels. Ruby qualified on her first 2 UKC Elite Champion Shed dog events we took her to. Your dedication and knowledge are truly wonderful. She does so well with the family and anyone we see.

We have never had a dog formally trained, and I am so happy we made the investment. Annie learned so much and so have we. Carli has a wonderful way of explaining the methods she uses for training. She has been following up with us since Annie came home, and Annie will return for some additional gun training this fall. We highly recommend her facility and are so happy with the results!! May 21 · We brought our black lab Daisy here for obedience training. Daisy was displaying aggressive tendencies and we felt that our in house training just wasn’t going to be good enough. She was here for a total of 6 weeks. When we got her back it was like a completely different dog. She respects us and listens now. Carli listened to all the concerns we had including jumping, aggressions, lack of listening, pulling on the leash and more. Carli addressed all these issues in the 6 weeks Daisy was there. We were thoroughly impressed and it’s definitely exceeded our expectations!

Thank you Northwoods Training Kennel for the amazing work you did with Reese! Your guys training program is top notch! I highly recommend anyone that is interested in sending there pup to Northwoods Training Kennel! Throughout the whole process of signing up and then picking Reese up, Carli was great to work with answering all our questions and making sure we understand what we needed to do after Reese was home to be successful! Since Reese was home, we have taken him bird hunting and shed hunting which he did great at! He qualified for 2016 NASHDA World Championship this spring and we are out every weekend shedding. He is easy to handle and makes the outdoors even more fun! Reese is a high energy pup but the discipline that Northwoods Kennels training trained into him has made Reese a great house dog also. I hope everyone considers Northwoods Training Kennel for there next pup!

I would like to write a review for Carli Ferron. I have known her for over a year...to talk with her on the phone and listen to her vast knowledge of dog training and dog psychology you would never guess her age. She is now working with my second dog and the fact that she has my second dog shows my trusting her abilities and satisfaction with the training of my last dog. She is honest to the point of hurting your feelings....but I had rather have honesty anyday than over expectations of my dog. I give her 5 stars and two thumbs up.

I wanted to take a moment to tell you I couldn't be happier with Bonnie, the English Pointer I purchased from you a year and a half ago. Bonnie has been a perfect fit for not only my hunting needs but also as a pet for my family. She is a very obedient dog and is very much a people pleaser. I can't say enough about the job you did training her. She was advertised as a starter dog, but she was totally ready to hunt when I got her. This was my second season hunting with Bonnie, and from the get go she was the star among the other dogs that we hunt with. She is all business when we hit the field and she gets along great with the other dogs. She continues to get better and better each time we hunt. Everyone I hunt with says she is something special. I can tell that you really have a passion for your job and it shows through the dogs you train. Above all, I can really tell that you love each and every dog you train and care for their well being long after you fi! nish with them. · 6-27-2017· Carli and NTK have been great. Moose was there for his puppy development and early bird introduction. Carli noticed a change in his back legs. Had the Vet exam and x ray Moose. They noticed a curve to his legs. Carli came up with protocol to treat Moose. After X-rays yesterday, my Vet was amazed by the difference in Moose's legs. So Moose is going back NTK for some upland training. Thanks again Carli for all your help.

In the interim, we were able to visit with our pup and watch Carli train in person. Each time we visited, she showed us what she was training him to do and how he was progressing. She even had both my wife and I go through the steps with Timber as she instructed us. It was amazing to see such progress in such a short time! After having your pup go through training with Carli, she offers training videos to view so you can stay on track with her training methods once you get your pup home.
